INTERGALACTIC SHORT FILM COMPETITION ANNOUNCED
ENTRIES EXPECTED TO BE 'OUT OF THIS WORLD'
From beyond the very limits of our imagination comes a stranger. Who is he? What is he? And why is he so thirsty for our black beer? These are the very questions asked by the inhabitants of Ballymoran a sleepy Irish village nestled deep into the Gilhooly mountains when they discover a visitor in their midst. Zonad, (written and directed by John Carney and Kieran Carney) is an "Uproariously funny" (Irish Tmes) and "Gleefully unhinged" (Variety) new comedy film.
To celebrate the upcoming release of the film, Element Pictures Distribution invites budding film makers, animators, sci-fi enthusiasts and film buffs to enter a short film competition. The film can be anything up to 3 minutes in length and should tell the story of what happened when a roguish spaceman arrives in a little Irish village. What devilment will he get up to? Will the locals welcome him with open arms? We'll leave that up to your vivid imagination!

Have you ever imagined walking into your local DVD store, picking up the latest hilarious comedy release and seeing YOUR name on the back of it....in a box marked extras? Well that could happen sooner than you think!
The winning submission selected by the professionals here in Element Pictures will be included as a special feature on the Zonad DVD release. The winner will also receive a cash prize of €500 to spend whichever way he/she or it feels like. And thats not all - You and a friend will be invited to the Irish premiere of Zonad and the after-party, your short will be reviewed by a renowned film critic and the winning submission will be uploaded onto the official website for all to see.
There can only be one winner, but never fear as Element Pictures Distribution have 3 great goodie bags for the runners up. Closing date for the competition is February 26th 2010 and some terms and conditions do apply.
ADDITIONAL INFO
You must ensure that your submissions are of broadcast quality standard. This means that All submissions should be PAL 25fps Standard Defination Content. 16:9 full height anamorphic content preffered. Picture Quality and Audio levels should be industry standard quality. Material can be produced in HD, but must conform to PAL SD 25fps to be used on DVD. All entries have to be on DVD video, no other format will be accepted All entries must be posted to the attention of Nell Roddy, Element Pictures Distribution, 21 Mespil Rd, Dublin 4, no later that the 26/02/2010.
RULES/TERMS
- 1: To enter the ZONAD short film competition you must create a short film of no more than 3 minutes in length, plus or minus 10%, including titles and credits and in accordance with the creative brief given.
- 2: You may not use any copyrighted material in your in your video, including soundtracks and footage belonging to third parties used without their consent unless the material has been made available under a creative commons license which covers the use you would like to put the material to.
- 3: You must be over 12 years of age at the closing date.
- 4: The promotor accepts no responsibility or liability for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission ,theft, destruction and or alteration. All lost, damaged or incomplete entries will be deemed invalid.
- 5: On submitting a video, each entrant irrevocably and exclusively grants and assigns the promotor with full title guarantee the entire copyright and all other rights of whatever nature in its entry for the full duration of such rights around the world.
- 6: The winner's entry will be included on the Zonad DVD as an added feature.
- 7: Employees, families or agents of the Promotor and/or any of its associated companies are not eligible to enter the competition. In any event, the Promotor reserves the right to refuse any entry which it considers in its sole discretion to be ineligible in accordance with these terms and conditions.
- 8: By submitting your video, you are agreeing to allow Element Pictures Distribution to contact you with regards to the competition only.
All entries must be made in accordance with these rules. The winners may be required to participate in publicity surrounding this promotion. It is a condition of the competition that Element Pictures Distribution may use all submitted Videos in any or all media in perpetuity. - 9: Your entry must be made specifically for Zonad.
